Privacy policy

This policy explains how Pick Spec (pick-spec.com, "the site") handles information. The Korean version is at /privacy; section 5 below adds what European law requires.

1. No accounts

The site does not ask you to sign up, log in, or give your name or contact details. The parts and programs you enter in the tools are added to the page address (for example?cpu=…) so you can share a result, and are not stored on a server. If you turn on “Remember my PC” in the spec checker, your PC fields are also kept in your browser (section 3). We strip that part of the address before it reaches Google Analytics, but it stays in your browser history and anywhere you paste the link. One exception: if what you type in the game and program search box matches nothing in our list, we send that search text alone to Google Analytics, so we can count what people look for and add it. We never send it if it contains “@”, five or more digits in a row, or a web address, or if it is shorter than 2 or longer than 40 characters. Please do not type personal details into that box.

2. What we collect

We use Google Analytics 4 to collect:

  • Pages visited and how they were reached — to see which pages help people
  • Which calculator, spec checker or spec builder was used (the values you enter and the parts, games or programs you pick are not sent) — to improve the tools
  • Device and browser type and approximate region — to check that pages display properly
  • Search text typed into the game and program search box that matched nothing in our list — to find which games and programs to add next

This information does not identify you personally. We do not collect names, phone numbers, addresses or payment details. If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply and delete them afterwards.

3. Cookies

Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits. You can block cookies in your browser; the site still works. The site no longer uses Coupang Partners affiliate links (removed on 29 September 2026), so no affiliate cookies are set when you leave the site.

The site also keeps two notes in your browser's local storage. Neither is ever sent to us, to analytics or to advertisers, and both disappear when you clear the site's data.

The spec checker's “Detect this PC's GPU” and “Paste specs” (including “Add a DxDiag file”) read the graphics name your browser reports, or the text you paste, on this device only to fill in the fields. Nothing is sent or stored separately (the filled-in fields go into the page address as described above).

  • Whether you closed the language banner ("This page is also available in Korean"), so it does not appear again.
  • Only if you turn on “Remember my PC in this browser” in the spec checker: your operating system, CPU, graphics card, RAM, free storage and drive type, so they are filled in next time. The games and programs you pick are not kept. It is off by default; turning it off or pressing “Clear saved PC” deletes it immediately, and it is discarded after 13 months. Specs opened from a shared link are not saved unless you change them yourself.

4. Advertising and third-party cookies

We plan to cover running costs with Google AdSense and are preparing to apply; no ads are shown yet. The AdSense code is already on every page, because Google needs to find it on real pages during review. No ads are shown before approval, but the Google script it loads can already set or read cookiesin your browser.

Once ads are shown:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies, web beacons or IP addresses to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
  • The site operator cannot access the information those cookies collect or link it to you.

How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained inGoogle’s partner sites policy.

You can opt out:

5. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

For visitors from these regions, analytics and advertising are set not to use cookies by default. Before any ads are shown, we will turn on a Google-certified consent message that asks you first.

Controller: the operator of Pick Spec, reachable at the email address below.Legal basis: your consent for analytics and advertising cookies in these regions; for emails you send us, our legitimate interest in replying. “Remember my PC” is stored only when you turn it on and only to provide that feature, so it is strictly necessary for a service you asked for and needs no separate consent; you can clear it at any time.Your rights: you can ask to access, correct or delete information about you, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.

6. Sharing

We do not sell or give collected information to third parties. Google’s own policies apply to the Google services described above.

The site is served by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and block attacks, Cloudflare processes the IP address and browser details of each request. Cloudflare also masks the email address on this page to stop spam harvesting. Its handling follows theCloudflare privacy policy.

7. Retention

Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically. Emails are deleted after we reply.

8. Your choices
